The Jungle Moc first released in 1998 thanks to Clark Matis, one of the OG founders of Merrell. Up until that time, Merrell focused solely on performance hiking footwear, but not much else. They needed new designs to realize their vision of a holistic mountain footwear brand. Something for the, "campsite after your hike through the trails, or the lunch break after biking up your local track". With this concept in mind, Matis paired the rugged outsole inspired by a mountain bike tire, with a smooth, laid-back upper, creating a truly innovative piece of footwear.

The Jungle Slide Ventilator maintains this concept, but retools the Moc for an even more low-maintenance, comfort-forward mule version of the classic model. The pair is equipped with breathable mesh pockets to break up the suede upper, an air cushion underfoot, and the signature rubber sole for traction. Merrell has come to be recognized as a brand with high-quality, long-lasting materials, and pairs like this from 20+ years ago are no exception.
