The Air Storm Pegasus is the winterized version of the original Air Pegasus 2002 (available on the EH website). The original offered a smooth ride and soft cushioning making it a runner's favorite, and the Storm boasts more of the same. It has a near identical fit, cushioning, and stability. Some enhancements include a well-insulated and water-resistant upper thanks to its Clima-Fit technology. It also features 3M hits on the Pegasus branding, heel, and midfoot - a common trend with Nike trail runners.
One complaint about the first version of the Storm Pegasus (2000) was that while it performed great off-trail, it tended to be slippery on wet roads. To combat this they used a sticky rubber for the deeper-lugged waffle outsole on this 2002 release.
In the late '90s into the early 2000s, Nike developed an obsession with trail running, in part due to Nike's Oregon location and the hiking interests of many designers and people on the product teams. Nike Trail Running shoes of this era essentially pulled elements from ACG and Nike Running, and fused them together to create an entirely new type of footwear. These pairs were designed to tackle a variety of terrain without sacrificing comfort, speed, or flexibility.
