The Nike Air Humara, Peter Fogg’s first shoe design for Nike, debuted in 1997 as a trail-running model that balanced rugged performance with running comfort. Inspired by motorcycle wheels, its thick, high-traction soles and tire-mark patterned uppers made it a favorite among both trail runners and urban wearers.

It was later reimagined under Nike’s Considered Design program—a sustainability initiative focused on reducing waste, using recycled and natural materials, and minimizing harmful adhesives. The Air Humara Considered Design retained Fogg’s iconic trail-running silhouette but incorporated eco-friendly materials such as hemp, cork, and recycled Phylon. As one of Nike’s early experiments in sustainable footwear, it stands out as a significant “eco” reinterpretation of a heritage performance shoe, bridging the worlds of performance, lifestyle, and environmental design.
