Not to be confused with the Air Max Sunder that has taken the fashion world by storm, the Air Sunder Max '06 is its own distinct work of art. The resurgence of the original 1999 model through online communities built a cult-following that caught Nike's attention, prompting them to release one of the most anticipated air max retros in recent memory.

Nonetheless, few are familiar with the Air Sunder Max '06 the lesser known follow up that arrived in the middle of the 2000s. It bears some design similarities to the original with the signature enclosed shapes and perforations running up the side panel, an air max unit on the heel, and pull tabs on both the tongue and back collar. The shape of the silhouette maintains its downward sloping appearance, but with a more hi-top approach.

The inner lining and tongue are fused together creating an inner sock reminiscent of the Adidas Crazy 8, although the "sock" doesn't fully remove. Orange lace runs up the eyelets through brown loops wrapping around the heel, matching the pattern of the eye-catching oval Nike emblem seen on the heel counter. All in all, this sequel pays proper homage to the original while adding its own flare.
