The Infinity Wave technology is still one of Mizunos prime tech innovations to this day. The Wave replaces traditional foam midsoles with two Wave plates, arranged in a figure-eight pattern, and features soft cushioning pillars in between. This mechanical construction is designed to last longer and offer consistent cushioning throughout the life of the shoe, unlike foam midsoles that can wear down over time. This tech really pops here on the Wave Creation 12 with its noticeably hollow heel. The Wave Creation line is geared towards high-mileage runners seeking a supportive, durable build.
In addition to the Infinity Wave, this pair was loaded with various other Mizuno patented technology. Engraved on the sole is "gender engineering". This was a technology introduced by Mizuno that enhanced performance to meet separate needs for men and women. Mizuno learned through extensive research that there are fundamental differences between the running styles of men and women. Mizuno noted that men's running shoes must be able to absorb greater impact, while women tend to pronate more. As a result, a wider, slightly flared sole design for men allows for a more stable ride. For women, a more flexible sole with a rounded heel, helps prevent inward roll of the ankle.
Although this pair is never worn, it's 15 years old and to be worn with care as with all vintage footwear. 100% wearability cannot be guaranteed.
