Between 2000-2001, Reebok made a significant move towards aligning with professional sports by signing 10-year licensing agreements with both the NFL and NBA just one year apart from each other. These agreements allowed them to manufacturer team uniforms and footwear, and sell licensed merchandise to the public. The NBA agreement kicked into effect at the beginning of the 2004-2005 season, making Reebok the exclusive apparel outfitter for all 29 teams in the NBA and 16 teams in the WNBA.
This not so subtle Air Force 1-inspired street sneaker arrived in the midst of Reebok’s freedom to use the NBA logo. Considering the fashion landscape of the league at this time, these would have gone great with some baggy jeans and an XL tee. It features an embroidered NBA patch on the mid-panel, an NBA lace lock, NBA-branded insoles, an NBA emblem on the bottoms, and a special branded box. Classic Reebok branding remains on the tongue, heel tab, and midsole. Natural yellowing on the tongue and heel provide an unexpected contrast to these mid-2000 stompers.
